Hey there, Reader,

Have you ever felt like you needed to "keep it together" or "stay strong" even when you hurt? It's something many of us do, especially creatives. We push through, suppress our feelings, and keep working—hoping that time alone will dissolve the ache. But here’s the hard truth: you've got to feel it to heal it.

Ignoring your emotions doesn't make them go away. In fact, it can build invisible walls around your creativity, connection, and peace. But when you learn to face your feelings head-on, you unlock more profound healing and richer creative expression. Let’s talk about why this matters and how you can start the process.

Musings of the Week:

Why You Have to Feel It to Heal It

1. Suppressed Feelings Block Creativity

When you avoid difficult emotions, you shield yourself from pain and dim your creative energy. Creativity thrives on authenticity, and when you disconnect from your feelings, you limit your capacity to express yourself. That's why sometimes, when you're feeling "off," it feels impossible to make art, write, perform, or create anything meaningful.

The solution? Let yourself feel. Cry if you need to. Write about it. Sing about it. Dance it out. Your emotions aren't a burden but a gateway to creative freedom.

2. Emotions Carry Messages

Every emotion you experience is sending you a message. Sadness may be telling you that something important needs to be acknowledged. Anger might be signaling that a boundary has been crossed. Fear might be pointing you toward an area of growth. When you slow down and listen to these messages, you allow yourself the opportunity to respond intentionally rather than react impulsively.

Your creativity benefits from this, too. You create from a more grounded, authentic place when you become fluent in your emotions. You may find that your work begins to reflect deeper layers of yourself, resonating with audiences on a whole new level.

3. Healing is a Creative Process

Healing is not linear and certainly not fast. It’s like creating a work of art—it’s messy and layered, and sometimes, you don't see progress until you step back and look at the bigger picture. But when you allow yourself to feel, you start clearing internal blockages that have been holding you back.

Maybe you've been struggling with self-doubt, burnout, or creative block. Those feelings are valid—but they also have something to teach you. You unlock clarity, creative flow, and inner peace when you acknowledge them instead of suppressing them.

4. Your Feelings Deserve Space

It can be scary to sit with heavy emotions. But the more you allow yourself to feel them, the faster they move through you. It doesn’t mean you have to dwell there forever—it simply means creating space to process. Whether it's through journaling, making art, meditating, or simply talking to someone you trust, giving your feelings a voice is the fastest way to heal.

So, pause the next time you feel like pushing your feelings aside, pause. Breathe. Let yourself feel without judgment. Your healing will unlock your creativity in ways you never imagined.

Try this: Name one emotion you’ve buried—give it 2 minutes of attention today.

đź’ˇ A Bit of Inspiration

Try This: The next time you feel overwhelmed, set a timer for 10 minutes. Write or create without censoring yourself. Pour out whatever emotion is weighing on you. Don't worry about making something "good"—just focus on feeling.

You may be surprised how much clarity and release this simple practice brings.

🌊 Tears to Art: TikTok’s Healing Trend

There's a growing movement in the creative world around emotional healing as a catalyst for creativity. Artists, musicians, and creators are starting to talk openly about how mental health impacts their work, sparking powerful conversations. Platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram are filled with creatives exploring their healing journeys through art.

Trend Insight: Sketch your mood in 60 seconds. If you want to create content around your personal experiences, now is the time. People are craving authenticity more than ever, and your healing journey could inspire someone else.

Watch me face my camera fears to heal through showing up.

Today's video is... well—it's me. While the message behind the video is one thing, the motivation to record it is my demonstration of today's topic: "Feel it to Heal it." My confession: I don't like being on camera. Period. I've done a good job of keeping out of the spotlight for a long time, but recently I developed this nagging feeling about why.

I coach one-on-one, and I've done the same for consulting with marketing clients. Rarely do I have an audience greater than ten people—unless I'm vending at a food event and sharing information about plant-based nutrition. But something in my subconscious about being in front of a camera again recently revealed an underlying fear begging to be brought into the light.

Not surprisingly, there was a lot to unpack there, and I almost regretted taking a trip down that "rabbit hole." But here I am, wholly vulnerable and determined to heal by showing up for myself and for others. No major production. No fancy equipment. Just lil' ol me.
